Discover the

ISLAND

The island is located on the Brescian side of Lake Garda, not far from the shores of San Felice del Benaco.

Today it owes its charm, above all, to the extraordinary Venetian neo-Gothic style villa, designed by the architect Luigi Rovelli in the early 1900s; an imposing harmonic construction, rich in surprising architectural details.

It boasts a beautiful eighteenth-century canvas by Carlo Carloni.

At its feet, terraces and Italian gardens slope down to the lake. All around the vegetation is luxuriant and intact, rich in local and exotic plants, rare essences and unique flowers.

How the tours

We organize guided tours with departures from various ports of the lake on different days of the week. The excursion includes a guided tour in Italian, English and German of the gardens and part of the villa by one of our guides, a welcome drink with a local wine and a tasting of our DOP Garda Bresciano olive oil.

It is necessary to book the visit, we strongly recommend buying the ticket directly from our website, also to reduce waiting times on the island for all guests.

It is advisable to book by the day before the chosen tour, in high season even three days beforehand; there are not departures from all ports every day, so it is better to plan ahead.  Our guides are assigned according to the bookings the day before, so if you book on the day of the tour, please check with us (via Whatsapp or Email) that the tour will be held in your chosen language.

It is not possible to visit the island without a guided tour.

The visit lasts between 2 and 2 1/2  hours on the island. The transfer to the island takes between 15 and 40 minutes each way depending on the departure port.

The island for

For some years now, Isola del Garda has created a project for children to raise awareness of environmental education and to teach them the history and way of life of this region, that is unrivalled for its naturalistic and cultural richness.

Isola del Garda is a place of incomparable beauty, rich in history and landscapes, surrounded by the magical, crystal clear waters of the lake.

This strip of land over the centuries has welcomed characters such as San Francesco d'Assisi, Sant'Antonio da Padova and Dante Alighieri and has been the scene of fascinating events as a refuge for pirates, as a hermitage for monks in prayer and as the headquarters of a Savoy garrison at the dawn of the Kingdom of Italy.

Today it is home to an important neo-Gothic Venetian style villa built in the nineteenth century and is adorned with Italian and English hanging gardens and a centuries-old park that welcomes essences from the most remote corners of the globe.

Isola del Garda puts at your disposal competent guides who will share with you of the history of this place and accompany you in discovering the most exclusive views of the lake seen from an unique perspective.

The park on the island offers a real enchanted forest in which children can enjoy an experience completely immersed in nature. They will have the opportunity to see, touch and discover new colors and scents that will remain etched in their memories. Children are free to wander around the park, allowing them to discover small paths and get lost in complete safety.

Our proposal for young children: A botanical treasure hunt, an activity to bring children closer to nature through imagination and play.

For public visits it is necessary to come with the boats organized by us.

  • How long does the boat ride take?

It depends on the departure port:

Barbarano, Portese, Gardone Riviera, San Felice del Benaco, Porto Torchio 10/15 minutes each way
    Salò  15/20 minutes each way

Accessibility

  • Is the tour possible for disabled persons?

It is possible to visit with a wheelchair. As for the transfer, there are steps necessary to access the boat, the boatmen are available to assist people with difficulties or disabilities.

There are 3 stairways during the visit, two in the gardens connecting the terraces, and one in the villa. On request we can accompany the person to the refreshment area with a golf car.

Unfortunately in this case two terraces of the gardens will only visible from the upper terrace (these terraces are only accessible by stairs). Please inform us of any needs at the time of booking. There are toilets for the disabled on the island.

The visit is not suitable for electric wheelchairs.

  • What about elderly persons with difficulties walking?

Being a path with stairs, it is not recommended (especially in the warmer months) to visit people with cardiological pathologies or serious health problems.

However, that being said, the pace of the visit is not fast, and there is some seating during the visit.

  • Can I visit with young children? Can I take a pushchair/pram?

It is possible to come with a pushchair, there are 3 stairways during the visit and the paths can be narrow, so we recommend a light stroller (umbrella closing).

To visit the rooms, it is necessary to leave the pushchair outside the house.

The visit is not aimed at children, but (for most children) it is absolutely doable. The guided part of the tour lasts about 1 hour / 1 hour and 15 minutes.

  • Can I bring my dog?

It is possible to visit the island with a dog, but dogs are not allowed in the villa, with the exception of small dogs (which can be carried in a carrier or in your arms).Visitors with large or medium sized dogs will have to wait outside for the duration of the tour in the villa (15/20 minutes). Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

Booking

  • Do I have to book in avdance?

Yes, it is necessary to book the visit at least the day before. In high season we recommend booking at least 4 days in advance.

If you decide to book on the day of the tour and there is still availabilit, please check with us (via whatsapp or email) whether the tour will be in your language. Our guides are assigned the day before according to the languages booked.

  • Do I have to pay online?

It is possible to book online and pay on the day.

In any case, it is necessary to notify us via email (not telephone) within 24 hours in advance in case of cancellation. For last minute cancellations or no shows with payment on the spot, the payment of the full amount will be required.

We ask where possible to buy the tickets online, as this reduces waiting times on the island for everyone.

  • Can I book by phone?

It is not possible to book by phone. The mobile numbers you find on the site are our guides, which can provide information (which you cannot find here on the site). Being the guides, they can't always answer. It is also possible to write with Whatsapp.

  • I cannot book online, what can I do?

You can write to us at info@isoaldelgarda.com.

  • I have a gift voucher, how can I redeem it?

Vouchers are not valid as a ticket and must be redeemed on our website. The expiry date indicated on the voucher does NOT refer to the date of the visit, but to the date of use of the voucher.
